Layman’s Samples app
Layman’s Samples is an application for mobile phones that amateur geologists can use to save boulder and bedrock observations and to send samples to the Geological Survey of Finland’s layman’s samples office. The app and having your samples analysed are both free of charge.
Results of the analyses of samples saved in the Layman’s Samples app are delivered via the app as well. The app also enables users to view their observations on a map. You can try the app without registering as a user. However, if you want to send samples to be analysed in the layman’s samples office, you must create a user account in the app first.
The Layman’s Samples app is only available for testing to a selected group starting from February 2019. After the test phase, the finalised app will be published at the end of 2019. After this, the app can be downloaded from the App Store and the Google Play Store. A browser version of the app will also be available..
